Landscape Lightroom Presets

Lightroom presets for landscape photography

Landscape photography is tough. For one thing, landscape photos are a dime a dozen, so you have to find a really spectacular view to really even make it worth trying. Then, you have to make sure you have the right lens for the job (wide angle tends to be best for landscapes). You set your white balance, you set your aperture as small as it will go, you adjust your ISO and shutter speed to get the correct exposure, and you take the photo.

And it looks totally dull and boring.

This is actually what pretty much always happens with landscape photography. Why do landscape photos so often come out looking dull? Two reasons. First of all, if you are shooting in RAW (and you should be), your pictures are going to look very dull when they are straight out of the camera anyway. Secondly, it is very difficult for the camera to catch the vibrancy and the dynamic range of the scene in front of you. This is why it is such an art form to get the picture you see with your eyes and turn it into an image that communicates the vision you had and the feeling the scene gave you.

This is where editing comes in. Editing is the part of the art of photography when you take the raw data you captured when you pushed the shutter and convert it into a piece of art that lets other people see what you saw when you took the picture.
